Check a ledger file PILOT
An office that uses WispBinder sent you a ledger file or an item extract. This page checks whether it still matches the ledger head the office gave you earlier.
WispBinder does not see, make or confirm the results in these files. The office keeps its own ledger on its own computer. A ledger file on its own proves nothing: anyone who knows the method, which is public, could make a consistent file with invented results. It only means something when you compare it with a ledger head you received before the event you care about.
The check runs only in your browser. The file is not uploaded and this page makes no network requests. The method is in ledger.js.
How to read the result
- Matches the ledger head entered: everything in the file up to that entry is exactly as it was when the head was made. It only counts if you received that head yourself, before the event. Entries after it were added later and are marked "not anchored".
- Consistent, not anchored: the file holds together, but you entered no earlier ledger head, or it was not found. Treat the contents as what the office says.
- Not consistent: the file was changed after it was made.
In every case: dates are the dates the office's computer recorded. "From a check file" means the office opened a WispBinder check file in its own browser; WispBinder did not see it. "Office statement" is what the office says. An item extract shows one item chosen by the office; the other results of the same check are not shown, favourable or not.
